Weisblatt.  I am committed to assisting clients obtain excellent legal representation.  This website is for use by visitors to learn about the legal services my firm can provide.  Located in Abington, PA, Montgomery County, my firm handles litigation and transactional matters on behalf of individuals and small to medium sized businesses.  I provide free consultation to all prospective clients.

ZICAM RAISING A STINK?

Zicam is a popular over-the-counter medication that had reported 2008 sales of $40 million on the claim that it “reduces the duration and severity of cold symptoms.”  Unfortunately,  the FDA said it has never seen actual proof of this claim. Zicam is marketed as a homeopathic product, and is therefore not subject to FDA approval prior to launching it for sale on the market for unwary consumers to purchase and use.

DENTURE CREAM ZINC EXPOSURE

The danger with these over-the-counter products comes when they are used excessively and over long periods of time.  Long-term use can cause a buildup of zinc in the body. This zinc exposure can prevent the necessary absorption of copper, which in turn can produce neurological symptoms. The product listed below contain zinc.

FDA ANNOUNCES RECALL OF 359 LOTS OF DIABETES TEST STRIPS

On December 22, 2010, the FDA issued a recall of 359 lots of Abbott Diabetes Care glucose test strips marketed under the following brand names:
Precision Xceed Pro
Precision Xtra
Medisense Optium
Optium
Optium EZ
ReliOn Ultima

The test strips were manufactured between January and September 2010.

ACCUTANE-RELATED INJURY

Accutane, (generic name of Isotrentinoin) made by New Jersey-based Hoffman-La Roche Inc., hit the market in 1982. Use of this drug is for the treatment of a severe form of acne (severe recalcitrant nodular acne). Taken orally, it is marketed as a prescription medication.  It is also sometimes called Roaccutane as well.
